Verizon compatible tablet?

Rather than going through my phone, i am thinking to use a tablet with cell connection.

As of 1/1 its illegal to hold a phone for any reason while driving here, I think a tablet would work better for me, and with so many cars having nav screens they would have a hard time making that illegal.

Has anyone else done this? Any gotchas to be aware of? Especially good or bad tablets?

Only considering android tabs for this.

Is it illegal to have a phone mounted on the dash? How would people use GPS nav?

The app is designed in a way to try and make it safe for driving, by making it so that you just need to follow the turn by turn nav.

To answer your question about tablets, I see no issues with using a tablet instead. I would recommend something decently fast though, as some cheap tablets are just lag machines.

I ended up with a Samsung S9 FE on my cell carrier.

Now for the next bit of fun, can the Kraken app run in landscape mode?

That law only bans you from holding the phone in your hand. If you have a dash mount it’s fine (and for safety even without the new law I’d strongly recommend using a dash mount anyway rather than holding it).

The app will unfortunately only operation in portrait mode.
