Optimal VFO BW - Can it be too wide?

Is there any downside to having a VFO BW that is wider than the signal of interest? At first thought, I assume the additional noise floor would be an issue but does the MUSIC algorithm account for this?

In this scenario, I am ignoring the extra additional CPU requirements and assuming there is only a single signal of interest.

The energy to noise ratio can matter, but it’s not significant unless you are dealing with very short bursts of signals.

As long as there are no other signals coming into that VFO it should be fine.
