OpenVPN Connection Interrupting KrakenSDR Operation on Raspberry Pi

Hello everyone,

I’ve encountered an issue with my KrakenSDR setup on a Raspberry Pi, and I’m hoping to get some guidance from the community.

When I establish a connection using OpenVPN on my Raspberry Pi, the KrakenSDR appears to stop receiving IQ sync and other parametrs. This interruption happens consistently every time I activate the OpenVPN connection. Disconnecting from OpenVPN doesn’t seem to resume the KrakenSDR’s functionality, and I typically have to restart the service/device.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue? Any thoughts on why OpenVPN might interfere with the KrakenSDR’s operation? I’m wondering if it’s related to network routes, bandwidth, or perhaps some conflict at the software/service level.

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Is it possible to establish an OpenVPN connection before the Pi 4 starts the KrakenSDR software? Possibly by modifying the start up script?

The KrakenSDR software is set to output data to IP 0.0.0.0 → the local IP.

Possibility when you create an OpenVPN connection the local IP has now changed, so the connection it made is no longer valid and breaks. So the KrakenSDR software would need to be restarted to make a new connection.

Just fyi, I’ve had no trouble so far using zerotier for remote access of (both) my krakensdr (rpi 4).
