KrakenSDR offline use?

Looking to buy. Is it possible to download the apk and install on a graphine OS device thats had all its antennas (with exception of gps) removed and have it use offline maps I create with mobile atlas creator. And if so what type of map files would it take?

You will still need a WiFi connection to connect to the Kraken’s datastream. But alternatively, you could try and tether the Pi and Android phone via a USB cable ethernet connection, though I’m not exactly sure on how to achieve that.

For offline maps, you’d need to download them via the app. I don’t think MapBox would allow you to use your own maps.

Also, if you were intending on using the turn-by-turn feature, then that can only work with an internet connection.

Are there any plans to add offline functionality so that in the event there is no internet available it could still be used? What data stream are you talking abou? Sorry still new and trying to understand the device. I didnt think you’d need any data besides your position, the rf positioning found by the antennas, and the maping software to plot those positions.

You can use it offline, just download the maps first, then take the device offline.

Regarding the datastream, data needs to be transferred between the KrakenSDR Pi, and the phone somehow. Usually this is done over WiFi (no public internet connection is required, just a local WiFi connection). If you don’t have WiFi you could try a tethered USB ethernet connection instead.
