KrakenSDR Frequency Operating Range

Hi,

The KrakenSDR hardware spec lists 24 ~ 1766 MHz operating range.

Yet the R860 RF tuner chip used inside KrakenSDR has 24 ~ 1300 MHz operating range listed in the datasheet.

May I ask if this 24 ~ 1766 MHz operating range is achieved using method like overclocking the INTEL CPU?

The official spec of the tuner is 1300 MHz, but for a long time now it’s been known that the R860 can tune further, although with reduced sensitivity.

I guess it’s kind of similar to overclocking in the way that you are pushing the silicon to operate in a range it was not designed for, but unlike overclocking operating the tuner at a higher frequency can’t cause the chip to overheat or break.
