Hello There! Looking for some advice with the Kraken Mobile App. I’ve got my kraken all setup and its uploading to map.krakenrf all fine however when I use the Mobile app on my iPhone 15, I can get it to Show green on the Arrow button but whenever it receives a signal the app crashes and I have to reset my Cache in order for it to work again but as soon as it receives another signal it crashes. Is this just a iOS Issue ?
Hello, we’re looking into some bugs on the iOS app. It was just recently released so there might still be some issues with it.
Currently the Android version is a lot more stable if you have an Android device.
Hello group,
I have been trying to get the KrakenSDR iOS app to work as I believe the developers intended. I have noticed the following bugs; at least I think they are bug’s because no one has responded that the iOS app is working per the instructions. Here are the problems I am seeing:
1). The iOS app on my iPhone is not using the iPhone location information and always points north and doesn’t change with vehicle direction. I have tried all the settings in the web GUI and on the iOS app. The only way I can get the app to work is use compass in the iPhone app to supply heading directions.
2). You cannot get the app to go full screen on an iPad; i.e., stays the size of an iPhone screen. I am getting old and my eye sight is not what it used to be. I would prefer using an iPad for this reason.
3). You cannot change frequency in the app, you have to go to the web GUI. I can live with this, but it would be a nice feature.
If anyone has been able to overcome any of the above problems on their iPhone app please let me know.
My final comment:
I love this krakenSDR. It performs extremely well and just needs some app refinements! Excellent product!
Dave
One of my team memebers had this issue, in the app settings, make sure RDF MAPPER is turned off, its at the bottom of the setting screen
Hope this helps!
Jamie,
Thanks for the reply! My RDF Mapper was and is turned off and I am having these problems.
I am wondering what computer/iphone/OS setup is your friend using?
FYI, here is my setup:
Pi-5 8GB OS image dated Oct 30, 2024
iPhone 15 with iOS 18.3
Thanks Again,
Dave, K5OZ
Hey Dave, I was the one having issues. I was using a Pi-4 Unknown OS As at the time I had the device out on loan however I was also utilizing a iPhone 15 however im running iOS 18.1. I ended up using a Andriod Device without service, Just on my hotspot network and haven’t had issues, Which is what I would recommend if you can easily do that.
DevDesired,
I have been thinking about getting a cheap Android Tablet and doing that until they improve the iOS app. Your comment just convinced me.
Thanks
Dave
