Finally UP AND RUNNING!

So I bought a tablet from Verizon specifically to use with the kraken. I gave up on power banks and bought two of the RPI5 power supplies at 5.1V ( my system has the pi5) those plug into my paul buff lithium inverter, which charges from a standard inverter, running from the car…

I AM SO DONE WITH POWER ISSUES…!!!

So I start up the tablet and enable the hotspot as KrakenAndroid for username and password.

Well, after a bit more fiddling I was able to get it all going. I picked out a weak FM bcst station at the top of that band ( antennas configured for 146-148 mhz) and started driving.

77 miles later… I could have thrown a rock and hit the tower, but locked gates prevented me from getting closer.

Bagged two more on the way home, and I had no idea where they were at the start other than probably up in the hills somewhere at the start of the hunt.

FINALLY!

I have no idea why it does not get along with my phone, but it’s up and running.

If you are using an iPhone you have to turn the iPhone hotspot off, then on when you turn your pi on. I believe the latest versions of iOS keep the iPhone hotspot broadcast signal off until requested by a Bluetooth signal from other apple devices; however, when you first turn on your iPhone hotspot it broadcasts for a few minutes then shuts the broadcast off.
This reduces power and saves the phone battery

Android all the way.
