I’ve had the kraken a few days now. 39cm array on top of pickup. I’m using an airport atis transmit site to try to sort out using the app and settings. The bearing lines and hot spots keep pointing to the top or other side of nearby mountains. I’m at sea level and I’m surrounded by mountains with peaks within 10-20km in most directions. Even when I have line of sight to the transmitter, it’s showing in a different place. When I ignore the bearings and just drive up to it, it shows the correct location but not until I’m within a km or 2.
I’ve tried squelch settings so far. The app also immediately crashes as soon as I try to navigate. Galaxy S24 ultra, Pi5 gb.
39cm radius, I’m guessing that you are trying for a UHF ATIS signal. At best, the bearing accuracy is around 3~5 degrees, and that equals a lot of territory/variance when looking 10Km away. I have found that often adjusting the gain and the squelch, until finding the “sweet spot” gave better/reliable results. That and practicing with it with know xmitters. It does have a learning curve, but worth the efforts.
Currently, there is a known bug for some phones where the navigation will crash. This is due to a Google API update, and we’re currently working on a fix which should be ready soon.
Problem solved. User error. Another antenna on my truck that was pretty far from the array was throwing everything off. Removed the other antenna and everything works. The app still crashes as soon as I try to navigate but theres not enough roads around to matter much.
