I have a question about the decimating config option. What does it do? I see that the spectrum get’s “zoomed in” if I increase the default value of 1. Does it reduce the amount of data kraken sends to the Raspberry? In which scenarios should I even touch this option?
You’ll need to read about decimation in the context of DSP or SDR to get a deeper insight, but yes you are right it does essentially “zoom in” on the spectrum. This is useful for dealing with very narrowband signals. No need to touch it under normal signal circumstances.
It can also improve reduce computation load, but beware that low decimation values (e.g. 2-4) can actually increase computation load.
